Bobby Baldwin was a professional poker player before he became the casino executive that he is today. In 1978, Baldwin won the WSOP Main Event, though it was the first year that it wasn't winner-take-all. In a then-record-setting field of 42 players, Baldwin won 50% of the prizepool -- $210,000.

It's Not a WSOP Bracelet, But It's Nice

In the final hand of the WSOP Ante Up For Africa charity tournament, Shannon Elizabeth moved all in with K-10, and Phil Gordon called with Q-3. Gordon paired his queen on the flop to win the hand and his first WSOP event. After the victory, Gordon said, "I always wanted to win an event at the World Series of Poker. Of course, it had to be a non-gold bracelet event. But I am thrilled to win such an important honor and am pledging all of my winnings to the Ante Up For Africa cause." Gordon donated his entire first prize of $129,086, and the tournament raised a total of about $275,000.

Phil Gordon Craves a WSOP Bracelet

Phil Gordon has seen many of his poker friends win WSOP bracelets over the years, but even though he has a World Poker Tour title and more than $2 million in live tournament earnings, Gordon has never won a WSOP bracelet. With 20 WSOP cashes and five WSOP final tables (including the 2001 WSOP Main Event, where he finished fourth), Gordon keeps trying for that elusive first bracelet. Unfortunately for him, Ante Up For Africa is not a bracelet event -- though the winner will receive a very nice watch.
