Michael Mizrachi Doubles Through William Thorson

The Field Shrinks to Five Tables

The tournament area slowly shrinks as players are eliminated. With five tables remaining, there are three tables on the tournament floor in addition to ESPN's two featured tables.

Michael Kaplan Sniffs Out a Good Story

Kaplan is an accomplished writer who has written poker articles and books for a more mainstream audience. Lily has been a highly visible railbird for her husband Michael throughout the WSOP, also cheering for her brothers-in-law Robert, Eric, and Donny. As we've mentioned before, all four Mizrachi brothers cashed in the WSOP Main Event.



Michael Mizrachi Is Still the Big Story of the Main Event

Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi has had a WSOP for the record books, and it's not over yet. With 78 players remaining at the start of Day 7, Mizrachi remains the biggest potential story of the WSOP Main Event, having won the $50,000 Poker Players Championship and made several deep runs with his brother, Robert, who busted yesterday.



David Benyamine Busts on Day 7

David Benyamine (center) is a regular in the biggest poker games in the world, but he came into Day 7 with a below-average stack. Benyamine eventually busted in 58th place, earning $138,285.



Former Professional Basketball Player Michael Skender

Michael Skender (right) stands out on Day 7 of the WSOP Main Event for a very simple reason -- he's really, really tall. Skender was a professional basketball player in Germany before he became a professional poker player.



Jack Effel Welcomes the Players

WSOP Tournament Director Jack Effel welcomes the final 78 players at the start of Day 7 of the WSOP Main Event, and reminds them of how big the stakes are at this point in the tournament. Action will continue Friday until there are three tables left -- the final 27 players.



Gianni Direnzo and Gary Dishongh Fill Out Bio Sheets

Now that the WSOP Main Event field is down to less than 100 players, they are filling out WSOP bio sheets so the media can learn more about these players as they go deeper and deeper. Gianni Direnzo (left) and Gary Dishongh prepare for the start of Day 7.
