Letter to Applicants for Media Credentials
WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 25, 2009 1:16pm PT
Dear Media Member:
The 40th edition of the World Series of Poker is set to run from May 26 to July 15, 2009 at the Rio® All-Suite Hotel and Casino and we anticipate another exciting and unpredictable tournament featuring 57 bracelet events over 50 days to determine the world’s best.
We hope you will be able to join us this year to report on the many storylines sure to unfold at the richest tournament in all of sports – the 2009 World Series of Poker.
We anticipate a large and diverse media contingent to cover this year’s events and hope you will join us. Our media footprint will remain the same, with Amazon A & B serving as the Media Center.
The successful “Press Box” area introduced last year will return again, and we expect many of the restarts of tournaments to take place in the area just in front of the Press Box section.
Wireless Internet access will be provided free of charge to the media and will be offered in the media center and press box locations.
Our media guidelines just required a little tweaking this year, so if you covered our event last year, you will find a similar experience as we continue to best balance the needs of the media, the players, the host site and the growth of the business as a whole.
Please review this year’s guidelines carefully – before filling out your credential application – to ensure you are fully briefed and aware of the rules. If there are any issues, they must be addressed prior to your arrival at the event.
Note: Photo credentials will be utilized this year. As such after you receive credential approval via email, you will be required to respond with an attachment of your digital headshot.
This link will take you to the media guidelines, which all applicants must review and accept before accessing the credential application.
We look forward to working with you.
Cordially,
Seth Palansky Communications Director World Series of Poker spalansky@harrahs.com
