Robert Kirschen – Managing Editor

Rob Kirschen

Robert Kirschen is the Managing Editor of WSOP.com. He oversees the news, recaps, and other information on the World Series website, and spends much of his time on the road at WSOP Circuit events.

Kirschen got his start in the poker industry as a tournament reporter for PokerNews.com. Soon after he began travelling the World Series of Poker Circuit in 2013, providing live updates for the World Series website. After a summer spent working in the WSOP media center at the Rio, he joined the WSOP team full time as Digital Content Manager, soon becoming Managing Editor.

A native of Massachusetts, Kirschen moved to Atlanta for college, graduating from Emory University with a double major in Mathematics and English. He then moved to Las Vegas for grad school, earning his MA and Ph.D. in English literature from UNLV. His scholarly studies focused on James Joyce and modern Irish literature, and he spent many years in the classroom teaching undergraduate courses in writing, reading, and literary study. After grad school, he shifted his focus away from teaching and academia, and combined his writing skill with his poker hobby to become a tournament reporter.

Kirschen still resides in Las Vegas, but is still a New Englander at heart. He can be found on many weekends at local sports bars, cheering for the best sports teams in the world, the Patriots, Bruins, and Red Sox, and trying unsuccessfully to hide his anger at anyone wearing a Yankees hat.
