Dann Turner Leads First-Ever WSOP Circuit Thunder Valley Final Table

Day 2 of the first-ever WSOP Circuit Event at Thunder Valley Casino Resort is in the books and Dann Turner leads the way. Turner won a huge pot just before what ended up being the final break of the night against Steven Tabb. Tabb check-called three streets and Turner won the hand with pocket aces.

Turner is the only player over two million chips and has a 625,000 lead over the next closest player, Glenn Larson. Larson eliminated Jeffrey Day in tenth place to end the day and set the final table of nine.

Day 2 started with 107 players returning. The chip leaders to start the day failed to make the final table, but Joseph Alban made a pretty deep run, finishing in 12th place. Apart from Larson who managed to make the final table, the wildest ride of the day has to be Garrett Gruener. He started the day with 200,500 and when there were 40 players remaining had 1,200,000 which was more than ten percent of the chips in play. He found himself eliminated in 19th place and all he could do was shrug as he headed to the rail.

Only the final 54 players made the money, so about half the field failed to cash. Allen Kessler, Pat Lyons, Dan Harmetz and James Hoeppner didn’t make the money, with Hoeppner stone bubbling with pocket jacks against two overs.

The players will resume Monday at 1 p.m. and the remaining nine players will be seeking the $170,286 top prize and the WSOP Circuit gold ring.
