WSOP CIRCUIT HORSESHOE BALTIMORE

The lights are out and the doors are locked at Horseshoe Baltimore as the 12-day WSOP Circuit series comes to a close. It was a memorable one, too. With the opportunities to collect points quickly running out, the Circuit grinders turned up in significant numbers to try to secure one of the limited seats to the WSOP Global Casino Championship.

Robert Hankins has already qualified for the Championship in just about every way one can qualify. He entered the series as the owner of seven Circuit rings, with three of those coming this season alone.

Both of those numbers increased by one this past week, as the Tennessee pro collected number eight by winning Event #8 in Baltimore. He's now just two wins behind the Circuit's all-time leader, Maurice Hawkins.

Hawkins himself made another run at a ring in Baltimore. The Florida standout has already won two Circuit Main Events this season — back-to-back ones, at that — and he was in or around the chip lead for most of Day 2 of this one, too. Hawkins made yet another final table appearance, but his bid for an 11th ring fell just short in seventh place.

Bracelet winner Mike Cordell went on to win that event in a dominating display of late-game poker. He collected the series' biggest prize of more than $180,000, and he also qualified for the Global Casino Championship by virtue of this win.

The now-three-time Circuit winner is a former truck driver from Arkansas who's been on quite a heater over the last year or so. This win comes 11 months after his victory in the WSOP's $1,500 Six-Max event and barely a month removed from his second Circuit victory in Tulsa.

Speaking of those who've won multiple times on the WSOP Circuit, Roland Isrealashvili also added to his total in Baltimore, bringing him into some elite company with a total of five gold rings. Isrealashvili outlasted a tough field in Event #5, topping a final table that included another five-timer, Kurt Jewell.

Las Vegas ring winner and Harrah's Cherokee Main Event runner up Daniel Pearlman also added his name the list of multiple winners. While was enjoying his day off after bagging Day 1A in the Main Event, Pearlman won his second ring for his victory in Event #10, the one-day $365 Turbo.

Casino Championship

With four cashes, two final table appearances, and one win, Dennis Tsai won the title of Casino Champion for this stop. The 30-year-old local finance professional took some time off work to grind the series, and his decision turned out to be quite a profitable one. In addition to the ring for Event #2, Tsai accumulated 80 points and earned $30,726 to win the race in a tiebreaker over John Richards. His performance will make him Horseshoe Baltimore's second representative in the WSOP Global Casino Championship.
