Cherokee, N.C. (April 23, 2017) – J.W. Wilder bagged his first WSOP gold ring early Sunday morning. The local poker player defeated a field of
528 players in Event #11: $365
No-Limit Hold'em Turbo (1 Re-Entry). Wilder also banked $23,183 and 50 Casino Championship points for his victory.
Event #10: $1,675 No-Limit Hold'em Main Event drew a total of 1,164 entries, creating a $1,746,000 prizepool. Day 2 of the Harrah's Cherokee Main Event starts at noon today. There were 210 players who survived their respective starting legs, 84 from Flight A, and 126 from Flight B.
The top 117 finishers will receive a WSOP cash and points toward the Casino Championship. Gold bracelet owner, Chance Kornuth, will begin with the overall chip lead. Kornuth bagged a stack worth 436,500 at the end of Day 1A. Day 2 is set to play through six, one-hour levels of poker before ceasing for the night. Day 3 begins Monday at noon.
The final ring event of the series kicks off at 3:00 pm today. Event #12: $365 No-Limit Hold'em Re-Entry is scheduled as a two-day tournament. It features a $50,000 guarantee and unlimited re-entry during the registration period, which remains open until the start of Level 9.

- Day 2 will begin at 1:00 pm on Monday

David Aker now sits atop the Casino Champion rankings with 90 points total. After finishing 2nd in Event #6, Aker jumped into Event #8 with motivation and rode it to a first-place victory, adding a third gold ring to his resume.
