WSOPC PREVIEW: HORSESHOE COUNCIL BLUFFS

The Circuit heads to the Midwest for the 17th domestic stop of the season.

Council Bluffs, Iowa (March 29, 2016) – It’s been a busy few weeks for the WSOP Circuit as the Harrah’s Atlantic City series, Bicycle Casino series and Horseshoe Baltimore series have all overlapped one another. Things will not be slowing down as the Circuit is about to kick-off another series. Thursday is the beginning of the 12-day Horseshoe Council Bluff series. As with most Circuit series’, this series will award 12 WSOP gold rings, plus two more for the seniors champion and the ladies champion.

Last year history was made at this property. Michelle Chin became the first woman to ever win a Circuit Main Event. She defeated a field of 235 entries to earn $88,126. She still remains as the only female Main Event champion.

For the first time in Council Bluffs history, the series will feature a monster stack event. The monster stack events are the hottest tournaments on tour right now and are quickly becoming a staple on every stop. The monster stack events start players with twice as many chips as a standard $365 No-Limit Hold’em event. Instead of a 10,000 chip starting stack, players in the monster stack will start with a whopping 20,000 chips. The monster stack is Event #9. It begins Wednesday, April 6.

The series will also feature a six-handed event and an unlimited re-entry event. There will be four variations of Omaha offered at the series. Two will be gold ring events and the other two are side events of the series. Event #5 is Limit Omaha 8 or Better and Event #8 is Pot-Limit Omaha 8 or Better. Both of these events are official gold ring events. The third variant of Omaha being offered is Big O and the fourth is Pot-Limit Omaha. These two events have a $250 buy-in and are not gold ring events.

The series will conclude with the $1,675 Main Event. The Main Event features two starting flights and allows players one re-entry per starting flight, for a total of four entries. The winner of the Main Event will take home what is most likely to be largest cash prize of the series, as well as a WSOP Circuit gold ring. They will also earn a free seat to the 2016 Global Casino Championship where they will compete for a minimum $1 million prizepool and a WSOP gold bracelet.
