HARRAH

This December, Harrah's Rincon hosts their 10th Annual World Series of Poker Circuit Event in their new 23,000 square foot Events Center. The series begins Thursday, December 5th and runs through Monday, December 16th.

Located in the mountains on the northern tier of San Diego County, Harrah's Rincon is one of only four locations to host a Circuit stop each year since the Circuit's inception in 2004. Notable past Main Event winners at this venue include Ali Eslami (2011 Regional Championship), Bryan Devonshire (2010), Dwyte Pilgrim (2009), Peter Feldman (2008), and Chris 'Jesus' Ferguson (2005).

Twelve official Ring Events are scheduled this year including a $365 buy-in No-Limit Hold 'em event with three starting flights and Re-Entry, a Six Handed NLH event, a Pot Limit Omaha event, a $580 buy-in NLH event, and the $1,675 buy-in NLH Main Event, which begins Friday, December 13th.

In addition to first place prize money and WSOP Circuit Main Event ring, the winner of the Main Event will also receive an automatic entry to the WSOP National Championship, which takes place in May 2014 at Caesars Atlantic City.  Last year’s Main Event champion was Jonathan Chehanske, a 32-year-old poker pro who had recently relocated from Brigantine, NJ (near Atlantic City) to Las Vegas, NV.  He bested the field of 306 entrants to take home $107,862 in prize money.

A second National Championship entry will be awarded to the Casino Champion, which is the designation given to the player who earns the most points through 12 scheduled Ring Events. Click here for information about the 2013/2014 WSOP Circuit points system.

Valentin Vornicu, a 29-year-old part-time poker player from San Diego, locked up the Casino Champion title last year winning one event and finishing second in another.  His win was in event 7, Six-Max No-Limit Hold'em.  Then he finished second in event 12, a Turbo NLH tournament and the final ring event of the series.

Other non-ring events scheduled for this year’s WSOP Circuit at Harrah's Rincon include a No-Limit Hold’em Seniors event, a Limit Omaha High/Low event, a Ladies NLH event, as well as nightly 7 PM $125 or $250 buy-in No-Limit Hold’em tournaments.
