WSOP CIRCUIT INVADES COUNCIL BLUFFS FOR THE SIXTH CONSECUTIVE YEAR
Council Bluffs, IA (March 29, 2012) - The country’s hottest poker action is taking place at Horseshoe Council Bluffs for the 2012 WSOP Circuit. Hosting its sixth WSOP Circuit event, Horseshoe Council Bluffs is one of the longest standing stops on the Circuit tour.

This year’s series began today (Thursday) at 12 p.m. CT with a $350 buy-in No-Limit Hold’em tournament that drew 355 entrants -- almost 20 percent more than last year’s opening event. First place will be awarded $23,764.

Event #2, a $350 No-Limit Hold’em Re-Entry tournament, begins Friday and is expected to draw one of the larger fields of the series. It will feature two starting flights. Flight A begins Friday at 12 p.m. CT and Flight B begins Saturday at 12 p.m. CT.

The tournament series will run through April 10th, with the Main Event taking place Saturday, April 7th. Other notable events on the schedule include Event #4: $350 H.O.R.S.E. on April 1st, Event #6: $350 Limit Omaha Eight or Better on April 2nd and Event #9: $1,060 No-Limit Hold’em on April 5th.

Last year’s Main Event at Council Bluffs drew 251 entrants and had a prizepool of $361,440. Professional poker player and media personality, Bernard Lee, narrowly missed the official final table, finishing 10th, and three-time Circuit champion, Dwyte Pilgrim, finished third. The first prize of $88,555 went to WSOP gold bracelet winner, Blair Hinkle.
