THE WSOP DAILY SHUFFLE: SAT., JUNE 16, 2012
Photo Caption (Photo by Joe Giron for PokerNews/WSOP): For the second time this summer, the final table action had to be paused as the final tablists hit the hard stops. First, Joe Casidy and Scotty Nguyen duked it out in a fourth day of the $5,000 Omaha Hi-Low Split Championship. Now, two days later, Stephen Chidwick, David Chiu, and Ylon Schwartz (L to R) will be the ones who need an extra day to play for the bracelet. To see more photos from the 2012 WSOP, please visit the official WSOP PHOTO BLOG.

A SEA OF GRAY:  AN ASTOUNDING DAY IN POKER HISTORY

No poker event held anywhere, at any time in history, had more starters assembled in a single day than the 2012 Seniors World Championship, which began Friday.  A door-crushing 4,128 seniors flowed into the WSOP with the full force of a human tidal wave.  Amazingly, this was the biggest start day in poker history.  No previous tournament drew as big – not the 2006 WSOP Main Event, not the $1K Stimulus Special in 2009, not any of the monster-sized No-Limit Hold’em events spread during the height of the poker boom.  Indeed, it was a day to remember.

For more on the massive event, see an excellent article on the record-busting SENIORS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP, posted HERE.

QUOTE OF THE DAY

“Look at the bright side, Carlos.  Tonight, you’re going to bed broke, but at least you won’t go to bed curious.”

-- Gavin Smith to Carlos Mortensen (after watching the former World Champion call for his entire stack on the river, lose a big pot when his opponent had a huge hand -- and then hit the rail)
