REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP, TO BE HELD OCTOBER 15-28
Record-Breaking Attendance Expected in Chicago, with Nationally-Televised Coverage and
Nearly Half-Million Dollars Added to Prize Pool
Hammond, IN – The World Series of Poker Circuit returns to the Horseshoe Hammond Casino for the third straight year, starting on Friday, October 15th. This is expected to be the largest poker tournament series ever held in the Chicago area.
This year’s WSOP Circuit schedule features 11 official gold ring tournaments, including open competitions in No-Limit Texas Hold’em, Omaha High-Low Split, and H.O.R.S.E. The two-week tournament series culminates with the $10,000 buy-in No Limit Hold’em Regional Championship, which is to be played October 25-28.
For the first time since 2006, a WSOP Circuit tournament will be nationally televised. Chicago hosts the first of four regional championships which are planned for this WSOP Circuit season. For more tournament information please view the Horseshoe Hammond structure sheet.
This year's Chicago schedule promises something for just about everyone. Five of the 11 gold ring events have buy-ins set at $350. There are also two $1,100 buy-in events planned, as well as the $1,600 buy-in Main Event which begins on October 23rd. Horseshoe Hammond will also offer $150 buy-in No-Limit Hold'em tournaments, starting at 7 pm nightly.
Also scheduled for the 14-day series of poker tournaments are a number of super and mega satellites. Single table satellites will also run throughout the day with buy-ins as low as low as $50. There are also cash games running around the clock inside the poker room..
Most of the tournament action will take place in the expansive arena and stage, which normally features the biggest names in music and entertainment. But poker players will take center stage in Chicago. While thousands of amateur players are expected to pack the Horseshoe, many top pros are also expected to attend, some coming to the Chicago poker scene for the first time.
Last year's tournament series in Chicago set several attendance records. The first event was the largest poker tournament ever held in the six-year history of all WSOP Circuits, attracting nearly 1,500 players. This created huge prize pools and paid more players than any other Circuit stop of the season.
