HARRAH’S RESORT ATLANTIC CITY HOSTS WSOP CIRCUIT DECEMBER 4 - 22

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ  – The World Series of Poker, the richest gaming event on the planet, continues its 2010/2011 Circuit Events season at Harrah’s Resort Atlantic City December 4 – 22, 2010.

Ten official Ring Events are scheduled at Harrah’s Resort, its sixth year of hosting the WSOP Circuit. A variety of events will be offered, including Omaha High/Low 8 or better, Seven Card Stud and Hold’em with all the action kicking off on Saturday, December 4 with a No Limit Hold’em tournament.

The $1,650 buy-in No Limit Hold’em Main Event begins on Sunday, December 12 and is a three-day structured event.

In addition to the official ring events, Harrah’s Resort Atlantic City will host the second of four, nationally-televised Regional Championships scheduled for this season’s newly revamped WSOP Circuit. The four-day, $10,000 buy-in No Limit Hold’em tournament begins Sunday, December 19.

Coverage of the event will be aired on VERSUS network in 2011.

Harrah’s Resort was home to the first-ever WSOP Circuit Event back in January, 2005. Among the pros in attendance at the inaugural tournament series were Chris “Jesus” Ferguson, Jennifer Harman-Traniello, Allen Cunningham and Erick Lindgren.

Nearly six years later, Harrah’s AC remains a flagship stop of the WSOPC, attracting some of poker’s top players. Liv Boeree, Michael Binger and Dwyte Pilgrim were some of the pros who competed at last year’s Circuit.

This year, with a newly-revamped Circuit format and national television coverage, the house is sure to be packed with world-class talent.

“I am very excited about this year’s event,” said Harrah’s Resort poker director, John Arthur. “It was here that we ran the first-ever televised $10,000 buy-in Circuit Main Event in 2005, so I am looking forward to having VERSUS cover our Regional Championship.”

“It is going to be a great series; our fantastic new structures have received Kudos from many players.”

Arthur has been in the poker industry for over 25 years. Last year, he took some time out of his day with WSOP.com to talk about his poker room and the WSOP circuit. You can read the full interview here.

WSOP Circuit leader board points will be distributed to players based on their performance in Atlantic City with the winner of the Main Event earning an automatic entry to the $1 million WSOPC National Championship to be held May 27-29 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. 3

The top nine finishers in the Regional Championship Event will also earn an automatic entry to the National Championship.
