Champions in the House

Talk about a tough field. Twenty players, each with a World Series of PokerMain Event titleto his credit, have garnered much of the attention of railbirds and other players inside the Amazon Room at the Rio as the Champions Invitational is underway.

The tournament is designed to celebrate the 40th Annual WSOP and its turned into a wet dream for poker fans. At stake is the right to brag amongst your friends, a completely resotred 1970 red Corvette and the newly-minted Jack Binion Cup.

Each player was given a special introduction y WSOP Commissioner Jeffrey Pollack before cards were in the air. Greg Raymer, 2004 World Champion, even took time to leave the final table of the $40,000 No Limit Hold'em event to be a part of the festivities.

Champions attending today included Peter Eastgate, Jerry Yang, Jamie Gold, Joe Hachem, Greg Raymer, Chris Moneymaker, Robert Varkonyi, Carlos Mortensen, Chris Ferguson, Scotty Nguyen, Huck Seed, Dan Harrington, Jim Bechtel, Brad Daugherty, Phil Hellmuth, Johnny Chan, Berry Johnston, Tom McEvoy, Doyle Brunson and Amarillo Slim.
